EJEDA-Congo

The needs are great in number but small in request in the Congo.  The people seek a basic quality of life that allows them to rise above the forces that are keeping them abandoned, uneducated, and unable to provide for themselves.

Why do the people in Goma need our help?

What can a stronger EJEDA do?

CHILDREN
ELDERLY & ABANDONED
PIGMIES
ENVIRONMENT
EDUCATION
Currently in the Congo there are many abandoned young children who were forced in the military during the war and now remain without family or support and lack the freedom and frame a mind of a child.
When Mount Nyiragongo
volcano spew molten rock into Goma on the shore of Lake Kivu on the Rwandan border, it destroyed an estimated 40% of the city in its wake. 300,000-400,000 people fled before the surge of lava.
These indigenous people live in the jungle because it is the only life they know.
Consequently, they are despised by many and regarded as animals.
The Goma region lacks an environment that allows its people to use its resources and prosper.
The educational needs are broad but necessary to live a life of dignity.
  • Locate and shape the demilitarized young children, give them the care they need, and help them be children again.
  • Organize life skills, leisure, and educational activities.
  • Assist war oppressed individuals, widows and widowers, and orphans in receiving the mental and health care they need.
  • Reach out to the pigmies and offer them the opportunity to rise out of their lifestyle with education, integration, and aid.
  • Rehabilitate the framework centers engulfed by volcanic lava, landslides and other natural calamities.
  • Overcome the struggle to bring drinkable water to the people.
  • Develop local agriculture in rural places.
    • Overcome many people's struggle to receive basic education so they can read and write.
    • Educate the community in ways to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
